Robert Riggs who married Mary Ann GIBSON at Harford in 1804 was the progenitor of most of the RIGGS in the Farringdon area of Devon. He was the only son of Thomas Riggs of Ottery St Mary and his second wife Ann (nee BRITAIN).

There are others with the surname RIGGS associated with the Farringdon area, where no connection to Robert has been satisfactorily established. Their currently known details can be found under Other Families In Devon.

I must stress that the reconstructions I've carried out are provisional, based on the available information to date. As such, the information and the reconstructions may be subject to future correction in the light of new information emerging. Naturally, I welcome any feedback from the descendants of any of the RIGGS families included and, in particular, further information to re-inforce or re-adjust the relationships that I've assumed, together with details of its sources.
