IMPORTANT - Please note the reconstructions below of the Family Group for Uffculme and Burlescombe are tentative ones because I haven't yet examined all the Parish Registers for these two parishes. Once that is finished, the reconstructions may need to be refined.

Thomas Riggs of Ottery St Mary was married there in 1618 as 'Thomas FURLAND alias RIGGS'. The family of 'RIGGS alias FARLAND' lived in Uffculme, Devon, some 10 miles from Ottery St Mary. Another Thomas Riggs was married in Uffculme in 1610 as 'Thomas RIGGS alias FARLAND'. These two Thomas Riggs were both baptised at Uffculme, but I can't currently establish which baptism links with which marriage.
1. Thomas Riggs, son of Robert RIGGS alias FARLAND and probable grandson of Martin of Uffculme, baptised at Uffculme on 21NOV1582.
2. Thomas Riggs, the illegitmate son of Alice and grandson of Martin of Uffculme, was baptised at Uffculme on 10FEB1579.

There are others with the surname RIGGS associated with the Uffculme and Burlescombe area, where no connection to Martin has been satisfactorily established. Details currently known of these can be found under Other Families In Devon.

I must stress that the reconstructions I've carried out are provisional, based on the available information to date. As such, the information and the reconstructions may be subject to future correction in the light of new information emerging. Naturally, I welcome any feedback from the descendants of any of the RIGGS families included and, in particular, further information to re-inforce or re-adjust the relationships I've assumed, together with details of its sources.
